Knickle's Studio & Gallery was established in 1921 by John Knickle, it is the oldest photographic studio in Nova Scotia. Our collection consists of over 2,000 negatives many are from circa 1900.

All of our photographs are printed by hand on quality photographic paper. Because of the age and various types of negatives we have, not all images are available in all sizes. The printing can be from a 35 ml negative right up to a 8 x 10 glass negative. Any flaw in the negative just adds character and reminds us of the age of the negative. Wherever possible we include information pertinent to the photo with the picture.

Only a samplings of negatives are in our catalogue, they include: the Bluenose, various boats being built and in trial runs, light houses, trains, scenic shoots of the Maritimes, planes and everyday life. If you do not see something that you are looking for please ask we would be happy to check and see if we have a photo.

Our Black & White photographs are available either matted or framed.
